SAP E-Book

In this step, you configure the search categories that you have specified for SAP Query.

  • Maintain Query Information
In this section, you assign the required InfoSets to the search categories.
  • Maintain Simple Search Fields
In this section, you specify for each search category which fields you want the system to use for the search operation with the search field.
Note:
We recommend that you restrict the number of search fields to a minimum to keep the volume of data that is searched as low as possible.
  • Maintain Result Fields
In this section, you specify for each search category which fields you want the system to use for the results list.
For each object found via a search, the system displays the object properties for the fields you select here.
Note:
  • For the object type Person (P), the system automatically displays the field P0000-PERNR on the user interface. We recommend that you specify the employee name (for example, the formatted name) as the next output field here.

When selecting the attributes for the results list, take into account that the attributes for a personnel number are only displayed if the user has the read authorization for all of the attributes. If the user lacks read authorization for even one of the attributes, only the personnel number is displayed (not even the employee name).
  • For the other object types - such as the object types Organizational Unit (O) and Position (S) - the system automatically displays the field P1000-OBJID on the user interface. We recommend that you specify the object name (field P1000-SHORT or P1000-STEXT) as the next output field here.

  • Maintain Advanced Search Criteria
In this section, you specify for each search category which fields you want the system to use as advanced search criteria. You also define the format in which the fields are displayed as well as the order of the fields. If necessary, you can also enter a search help that you want to use for each field.
  • Maintain Filter Fields
In this section, you specify for each search category which SAP Query fields you want the system to provide as filter values. You cannot define SAP Query text fields as filter fields. However, if you want to have the text displayed on the screen, specify the corresponding text field in addition to the filter field.
Example:
Entries for the Personnel Areafilter field:
Query Field: P0001-WERKS
Text Field: TEXT_P0001_WERKS
  • Maintain Value Suggest Fields
In this section, you specify which fields the system uses to select search results while the user is entering a search term as well as the fields used for outputting the results:
  • Selection: Enter the field to search. You can enter multiple fields.

  • Result: Enter the fields to return in the results list. If the search is successful and a search match is found, the data in the fields you have specified here as result fields will be displayed to the user.

  • Selection and Result: Enter one or more fields, if the fields you want to search in are also the fields you want to output.
