Here, you can find information about the integration of the Employee Self-Service (ESS) Leave Approval process in Manager Self-Service (MSS).

The manager can navigate to all development objects for Leave Approvalfrom the personal object worklist (POWL) inbox of the Web Dynpro application configuration MANAGER_MSS_WDAC_POWL_INBOX. This application configuration is included in the standard role, SAP_MANAGER_MSS_SR_NWBC.

In the standard configuration, a manager can display the leave requests awaiting approval in the POWL query, Leave Approval(MSS_POWL_LEA_APPROVAL). They can edit individual leave requests in the application HRESS_A_PTARQ_LEAVREQ_APPL. This solution does not integrate the processing of workflow items.

You can add workflow task TS 21500003 in the POWL query, Work Item. This alternative requires that you have assigned a workflow template to the absence type or attendance type in Customizing.

For more information on adding the workflow task in the POWL query, see Customizing for Cross-Application Componentsunder Processes and Tools for Enterprise Applications -> Inbox -> Assign Task IDs to POWL Types.

Assign Task IDs to POWL Types

For more information on specifying process types , see Customizing for Personnel Managementunder Employee Self-Service (Web Dynpro ABAP) -> Service-Specific Settings -> Working Time -> Leave Request -> Processing Processes -> Specify Processing Processes for Types of Leave.

The development objects which are delivered for Leave Approval in MSS enable an object-based navigation (OBN) from a leave request item in the POWL query to the Leave Request application. The navigation steps for this OBN are explained below.

Using the POWL query Leave Approval(MSS_POWL_LEA_APPROVAL), enables a manager to view all leave requests sent to them for approval. This POWL query is built from the SAP implementation CL_HRMSS_PTARQ_LEAVREQ_POWL of the POWL feeder interface IF_POWL_FEEDER.

For more information, see the application help for the POWL Administrator Cockpit, using transaction POWL_COCKPIT.

The standard configuration includes the SAP List Viewer (ALV) layout BDUY9R as the default configuration, in POWL query Leave Approval(MSS_POWL_LEA_APPROVAL).

A manager can edit a leave request in the application under the Type of Leavecolumn, using the SAP implementation CL_HRMSS_PTARQ_LEAVREQ_POWL and its ALV layout. The standard configuration implements an OBN method, which is assigned the alias, LEAVE_REQUEST_APPROVAL in the launchpad instance MSS NAV. As system administrator, you can observe the standard delivery for MSS NAV using transaction LPD_CUST.

As system administrator, you can observe the method employee.approveleaverequest for BOR object Employee (HREMP_NAV) using transaction SWO1.

The Leave Requestapplication of the OBN is assigned to the MSS Home menu for the role, SAP_MANAGER_MSS_SR_NWBC, using transaction PFCG. As part of this assignment, the parameters of the OBN method are mapped to the Web Dynpro application parameters. To view these parameter details, proceed as follows:

  1. Run the Role Maintenanceapplication using transaction PFCG.
  2. Display the roles for SAP_MANAGER_MSS_SR_NWBC.
  3. Choose the Menu button.
  4. Under Hierarchy, choose Manager Self-Service -> Home -> Approve Leave Request.
  5. Choose the Other Node Detailsbutton.

2, 3, and 4 above, as found in the standard configuration, can be reused with integrated workflow items. The BOR method, employee.approveleaverequest of the BOR object Employee (HREMP_NAV) and its mapping in role SAP_MANAGER_MSS_SR_NWBC have been enhanced, and you can reuse them to edit a leave request from the POWL query MANAGER_MSS_INBOX_WI_QUERY via OBN.
