Define the layout for asset master data.
In this activity, you define the layout for asset master data.
Different types of fixed assets often require a different arrangement of fields. It is defined in the layout how the fields are displayed and, if necessary, maintained on the user interface (field property) and whether they are allowed to be maintained at the level of the main fixed asset or also at the level of the asset subnumber (maintenance level).
Once you have defined the layouts in this activity, assign them to the corresponding asset classes (activity Define Asset Class). If necessary, you can make the assignment for each company code.
Once you have assigned the layouts, you can then maintain the asset master data.
SAP has predefined all configurable fields. Some fields have standard settings available for visibility that you are not allowed to override when configuring the layout.
SAP provides some sample layouts that you can use as a reference.
You can use the layouts provided with the standard delivery.
Alternatively, you have the option of creating your own layouts; you do this by copying an existing layout and then changing at least the key and, if necessary, the name.
To create a layout of your own, proceed as follows:
- Select the layout you wish to use as a template and then copy it. Alternatively, you can create a completely new layout.
- Enter a key for the new layout and a name.
- Choose the relevant fields for each layout.
- For each field, define the following:
- Field Property (visibility)
- Save your entries.
