SAP E-Book

In this Customizing activity, you determine the characteristics of goals. You can also determine the spendable amounts for each goal, define goal options and determine the costs for goal options.

In the previous steps you have defined goals.

For example, in the case of a bicycle plan, standard SAP includes the goal options EXCL, STND and GDKP with the corresponding descriptions exclusive, standard, and inexpensive.

You can use this Customizing activity to complete the following steps:

  • Determine characteristics of goals
  • Determine spendable amounts for each goal
  • Define goal options

Determine Characteristics of Goals

  1. Press the New Entry button.
  2. Select the correct goal.
  3. For each goal, enter the correct start and end date. These dates determine how long a certain goal with certain characteristics can be chosen.
  4. Specify the option of your choice:
  • Only Amount Permitted

  • Only Number Permitted

  • Both Amount and Number Permitted

  1. Specify either a validity period or an eligibility date for the goal. If no value is entered in these fields, the standard period of the program applies.
  • If the goal has a specific duration, you use the Validity Period field.
You must only enter a value in this field if the validity period of the goal deviates from that of the program or the event.

  • If the goal is restricted by calendar date, you use the Next Eligibility Date field.
If an eligibility date is defined, it is used in preference to the validity period.

  1. If desired, you can enter the unit of the goal. The unit belongs to the Numberfield, with which a choice of a certain goal can be determined.
  2. Save the data entered.
  3. Repeat all the steps above for each goal for which you want to determine the characteristics.

Determine Spendable Amounts for Each Goal

Complete this step if you do not have a goal option. For example, in the case of save-as-you-earn, a maximum of 613 euros can be spent, within which range the employee is free to decide how much he or she wants to save (status as of 2007).

  1. Select the desired goal.
  2. Press the New Entry button.
  3. Select the desired spending group.
  4. Enter the validity period.
  5. For Minimum and Maximum Values for Goals you can enter a minimum amount or number that can be spent on a goal. You can also enter a maximum amount or number.
  6. Save the data entered.
  7. Repeat these steps for each goal for which you want to determine a minimum or maximum and for which you are not going to create fixed options.

You must carry out the two steps below, if you are going to determine goal variants:

Define Goal Variants

  1. Select the required goal.
  2. Press the New Entry button.
  3. Enter a 4-character code.
  4. Enter a description of the goal variant.
  5. Save the data entered.
  6. Repeat these steps for each goal variant you have created.

Determine Costs of Goal Variants

  1. Select the required goal.
  2. Press the New Entry button.
  3. Select the desired goal option and spending group.
  4. Enter the costs for the goal options. You can enter a fixed amount or a fixed number.
  5. Save the data entered.
  6. Repeat these steps for each goal options for which you want to determine the costs.

You have determined save-as-you-earn as a goal. In this example, you use Determine characteristics of goals to define the following settings:

  • Direct entry of an amount is possible
  • Only amounts are permitted
  • The choice is valid for 12 months
