In this Customizing activity, you choose the application that you want to use for the derivation of market segment characteristics.

You are using Margin Analysis.

  1. Select one of the following options from the dropdown menu:
  • Transaction KEDR

Choose this option to use the Customizing activity Define Characteristic Derivation to define derivation steps for the market segment derivation.
Note that in transaction KEDR, you define and perform derivation steps for each operating concern separately.
  • Fiori App F4406

Choose this option to activate the use of the Manage Substitution/Validation Rules app for the Accounting:Market Segment business context.
In the app, you can then define substitution rules for the field values of your market segment characteristics.
The rules are defined and performed regardless of your operating concern. However, substitution rules are also carried out if they include fields that are not active in the affected operating concern.
The substitution rules are the same over all operating concerns, but the results can only be used and stored for fields that are stored in that specific operating concern.
Note that the third option in the dropdown menu cannot be selected and is available for technical reasons.
  1. Choose Save to save your selection.

Note: The application that you choose from this dropdown menu automatically deactivates the other application.

You can use both applications to define derivation rules regardless of the option selected from this dropdown menu. The application that you selected is only considered during posting of journal entries.
