In this configuration step, you can configure your currency types and create one additional currency type for each of your company codes. For your additional currency, you then specify the relevant currency conversion and ledger settings and for the other available currency types, you can edit the currency conversion settings.

Caution

You can only add new currency types for a company code that is notin productive use yet.

This means that you can only add an additional currency for a company code if the following conditions are true in your complete system landscape:

  • No journal entries have been posted for the company code.
  • If actual costing is activated: No changes have been made to the accounting attributes of materials that are relevant for actual costing (price determination = 3) in the company code.

Otherwise a check will block currency configuration changes.

  • Currency Types view:
Check your currency settings and create an additional currency type if required. Your own currency type can be made up of a combination of letters and digits or of letters only, but must begin with the letter Y or Z, for example Y1, Y2, ZA, or ZB.
You can’t make any changes to the SAP standard currency types Document Currency(00) and Company Code Currency (10). You specify the company code currency (and your group currency) when setting up your system.

For your own currency type, you can define whether the corresponding currency conversion settings are valid globally or on company code-level.

Depending on whether you selected global or company code-specific settings to be made for your currency type, proceed with one of the two views below for the currency conversion settings.

  • Global Currency Conversion Settings view:
For your own currency type, enter the currency into which the conversion is to be made (Currency field), and the currency from which currency conversion is to be made (Source Currency field). In addition, enter the exchange rate type and the date on which the translation is to be carried out (document date, posting date, or translation date). If required, you can also change the currency conversion settings for the group currency (30) in this view.
  • Currency Conversion Settings for Company Codes view:
For each combination of company code and your own currency types, make your settings as described above.
  • Company Code Settings for the Ledger view:
Select the row with the combination of the leading ledger and the company code for which you want to use the additional currency. Enter the new currency type in the Freely Defined Currencyfield.
For the non-leading ledger(s), you can optionally enter the same currency type as in the leading ledger for each company code. If you don't need an additional currency for the non-leading ledger(s), you can leave the Freely Defined Currencyfield empty.
  • Enter your functional currency. As functional currency, you can use the company code currency (10), the group currency (30), or your own, freely-defined currency type. If you don't enter a functional currency, the system sets it to the company code currency (10) by default.
Caution: As soon as you make postings to a company code, you can no longer change the functional currency.
