SAP E-Book

In this Customizing activity, you create a project to introduce new currencies for existing ledgers and company codes.

The project bundles all relevant information that is needed to perform subsequent steps in the Execution Phase of Manage Currencies. The project information includes conversion settings for the new currency types, for each ledger and company code combination, that is used to perform the initial calculation of the new currency amounts.

In the project configuration, you specify which exchange rate type, calculation date, and source currency type shall be used to calculate the new currency amounts for existing journal entries.

You can use one project to introduce multiple currency types in several company codes and ledgers. The conversion logic must be defined for each company code and ledger combination.

If you want to introduce a new currency type for multiple ledgers with the same company code, you should use the same conversion logic. Otherwise, the newly-introduced currency might have different values in the different ledgers.

NOTES:

  • Before you start the execution phase, please ensure that you have maintained the relevant currency exchange rates.
  • Also, when you import the project and its related customizing into the production system, please ensure that only one project configuration is transported at a time. If you want to run more than one project during the same downtime, then you must do this sequentially. This means that you must ensure that the you import the configuration for the second project into the production system only after the first project has been completed

  1. Choose New Entries.
  2. Enter a Project ID and Description.
  3. Select the project that you have just created and then choose Assign Ledger, Company Code, and Currency Type.
  4. Enter the Ledgerand Company Code, where the new currency should be introduced. The system checks whether the ledger you have entered is a standard ledger. Extension ledgers that belong to this ledger are shown in a popup for information reasons. These extension ledgers are handled automatically and don't have to be entered in the project configuration.
  5. Enter the Target Currency Type. The target currency type that you enter must already exist in the Customizing activity Define Settings for Currency Types.
  6. Enter the Source Currency Type. The combination of ledger, company code, and source currency is compared with the entries that are maintained in the Customizing activity Define Settings for Currency Types
  7. Enter the Exchange Rate Type and Translation Date Type. If the source currency type, exchange rate type, and / or translation date for this company code differ in the Customizing activity Define Settings for Currency Typesunder Global Currency Conversion Setting, a warning is issued.
