In this Customizing activity, you can maintain mappings for CO-PA-related characteristics and value fields between the source system and the Central Finance system.

You can map several operating concerns in the source system to each operating concern in the Central Finance system.

You can define mappings for the characteristics and the value fields for each pair of operating concerns

The mapping of CO-PA-related characteristics and value fields is used during the replication of FI documents and CO data. The Central Finance system determines the value of each referenced characteristic or value field according to the mappings that you configure in this activity and in the Customizing activities for maintaining characteristics in the source and the Central Finance system.

If the customized characteristics or value fields are changed in either the source system or the Central Finance system, you can use the button “Sync Structure” to update the previously configured mappings to reflect the most recent changes.

You can only map characteristics and value fields that already exist in your Central Finance system.

You define characteristics and value fields in Customizing for Controlling under Profitability Analysis → Structures → Define Operating Concern → Maintain Characteristics and Maintain Value Fields.

Alternatively, if you are working in a lower SAP ERP source system release, you carry out both activities under Profitability Analysis → Structures → Define Profitability Segment Characteristics (Segment-Lvl Characteristics).

To create a set of mappings for either characteristics or value fields:

  1. Select an operating concern in the Central Finance system by highlighting it.
  2. Double click on “Operating Concern in Source System” from the left navigation panel.
  3. Enter the source system and the operating concern which you want to map to the operating concern in the Central Finance system.
  4. Press enter, then highlight the entry, double click on “Characteristics Mapping” from the left navigation panel.
  5. The system proposes a set of mappings based on the existing configuration. You can customize the mappings as you wish.
  6. Double click on “Value Fields Mapping” on the left navigation panel and maintain the mappings for value fields.
  7. Choose “Save”.
