FINS_CFIN_SRC_SYS - Make Configuration Settings in Source System

SAP E-Book

Before you start the initial load, you must have carried out the necessary settings for Central Finance in your SAP source systems.

You can find these settings by calling transaction CFINIMG in the source system. If the source system has been enabled using OSS-note and not by applying the corresponding support package, the transaction CFINIMG does not exist. In this case, open the maintenance view VCFIN_SOURCE_SETusing transaction SM30.

In the activity General Replication Settings, you make the settings necessary for both the initial load of data from your SAP ERP system to your Central Finance system and for the continued replication of this data once the initial load is complete. This activity is a prerequisite for transferring data from your system to Central Finance and is where you specify the company codes for which data is transferred.

You specify:

  • The level of detail of the data that you want to transfer to the Central Finance system.
If you do not need a high level of detail, you can choose to transfer balances only for that period of the fiscal year. For more detailed information, you must transfer FI documents.
Note that, in addition, all open items with posting dates before the start date for the transfer of documents are transferred. That is, not only those open items with posting dates during the period for which balances are transferred but all open items in the source system.
  • The number of periods for which the financials data should be retained in the transfer table of the source system.
  • For SAP ERP source systems only: Whether GL reconciliation postings from management accounting (CO) should be replicated during the initial load.
Note that if CO replication is active, you must NOT set the flag GL reconciliation postings to active as doing so will cause documents to be posted twice.
  • Whether the initial load has been completed for a specific company code.

"Empty" initial load

In some cases, (for example, in a proof-of-concept project), you might not want to transfer any postings from earlier periods to your Central Finance system. Nevertheless, you still need to perform an initial load to activate the online replication in the source system.

To do so, you can perform an "empty" initial load.

Note that the “empty” initial load should only be carried out in a test landscape and you should not try to go productive with the data that is transferred via this type of initial load.

To carry out an "empty" initial load, enter the following data:

  • Company Code: enter the relevant company code
  • Start - Balances: leave empty
  • Start - Documents: choose a year in the future for which nothing has been posted so far
  • Period - Documents: choose a period in the future for which nothing has been posted so far
  • Documents Period: 12
  • Leave all other fields empty
