SAP E-Book

In this Customizing activity, you can redefine the message type for each MDG-F data validation level (Change Request, Edition, and Single Maintenance). You can specify whether a message will be displayed as an errormessage, a warningmessage, or an information message. If you define new messages, for example for custom validations, you have to specify the message type for these messages as well.

You are using the standard data model 0G. You either want to change the predefined settings delivered by SAP, or to define settings for custom messages.

We strongly recommend not creating a copy of data model0G. However, if you have created a copy of data model 0G, note that the system does not call the predefined validations. All predefined validations use the data model name 0Gas the filter value. To use the standard validation, start transaction SE19to change the filter values in the enhancement implementation for USMDZ7_RULE_SERVICE.

We deliver standard settings in Switch BC sets. The system adds these BC sets to Customizing when you activate the related business functions for MDG-F.

The Check Levels of Validation dialog contains the following three predefined check types. These check types correspond to the three validation levels, i.e. the points in time at which the system calls the validation:

  • CR ,,Change Request
  • ED,,Edition
  • EN ,,Single-Object Processing (Entity)

We strongly recommend not changing these check types.

The dialog Work Areas for Configurable Messages contains predefined validation messages. Choose the application area USMDZ3and double-click on the Configurable System Messages subdialog to display the predefined system messages.

In the Work Areas for Configurable Messages dialog, choose the entry USMDZ3. In the Configurable System Messages subdialog, you can change the delivered system messages and add your own messages. For each message, define the allowed message types and the standard message type.

The message types are as follows:

  • E: Error
  • W: Warning
  • I: Information

You can use the Customizing activity Change Message Type for Validations to redefine the message type for each validation level (Change Request, Edition, and Single Maintenance). The system can output a message as an information or warning message in one error situation, and as an error message in another. For example, assigning a cost center to its standard hierarchy triggers a warning message in single-object processing, but an error message when trying to release the related edition.
