In this Customizing activity, you maintain the BOM item fields you choose to overwrite in the Variant BOMs when a Generic BOM is changed. (This refers to BOMs that were changed individually without referring to a Generic BOM).

You must make these Customizing settings:

• Set the BOM Maintenance indicator Control Data for BOM to 2 in the Plant master.

For example, if you want to change the component scrap quantity of a particular component in the variant BOM, here’s what you do:

1. In CS02, change the component scrap quantity for the Variant BOM.
2. Now when the component scrap quantity for the component is changed in the Generic BOM, if you have selected the Overwrite checkbox against the Component Scrap field in this customizing, the Component Scrap is overwritten in the Variant BOM you previously modified.
3. If you have not selected the Overwrite checkbox in the Component Scrap field, the Component Scrap that was changed in the Generic BOM will not be overwritten in the Variant BOMs that were modified individually (without referring to a Generic BOM).
