In this Customizing activity, you define the number intervals of the number ranges for few processes performed on the sales and purchasing documents.

When creating a document, a unique number is assigned that identifies the application log containing the following information in the document.

  • Value-added services (VAS) data (redetermined using the VAS redetermination report)
  • Pricing condition value (redetermined using the Mass Data Change report)
  • New ATP confirmation results (redetermined using the Mass Data Change report)

The log number comes from the number range which is provided for the corresponding application.

There are two possible types of number assignment:

  1. Internal number assignment
The SAP System automatically assigns a consecutive number from the defined number range.
  1. External number assignment
You specify a number from the external number range.

  1. To define a number range, you have to create a new number interval:
  • Specify an alphanumeric key with up to 2 characters.

  • Specify the limits of the number interval. The individual number intervals may not overlap. Thus, every number can only occur once.

  • Select the number range if it is planned for external number assignment.

  1. Then, specify the key of the number range for the document types in the Customizing activity Maintain Number Range Object for Applications
