In this activity, you can define derivation rules to fill fields in exposure positions that have not been filled in the raw exposure. This is necessary for the creation of the exposure positions. All fields that serve as differentiation criteria for the exposure positions must be filled. The exposure position type is one of the fields of the exposure positions that has to be derived from other fields of the raw exposure.

When you create a raw exposure, you must fill all fields that you use in this Customizing activity to derive the values of the fields in the exposure positions. You need to define these fields as required fields in the IMG activity Define Exposure Activity Type.

You have made the Customizing settings for the following:

  1. In the Derivation of Exposure Fields: Display Strategy maintenance view, you can enter a rule for deriving values from the following fields in the raw exposures and entering those values in the target fields in the exposure position:
  • Source fields in the raw exposure

The rule can involve various steps. The system follows these steps in the specified order and enters all possible values in the target fields.
A step can be a derivation rule or an assignment or an enhancement:
  • Step type Derivation Rule

With a derivation rule, you can choose various source fields (such as the country/region or exposure activity type), the values of which are used as a basis for assigning a value to the target field. You can make the use of a derivation rule dependent on the fulfillment of a condition.
  • Step type Move

In the case of a move, you specify the value to be written to the target field. You can also make a move dependent on the fulfillment of a condition.
  • Step type Clear

In the case of a clear, you specify that the value in the target field is cleared. You can also make a clear dependent on the fulfillment of a condition.
  • Step type Enhancement

In the case of an enhancement, you can call a BAdI enhancement to fill the fields in the raw exposures.

  1. Defining a derivation rule
    1. Choose the Create Step pushbutton. In the dialog box, that appears, select Derivation Rule and confirm your entry.
    2. Enter a text for the derivation rule.
    3. On the Definitiontab, enter the fields that you want to use in the Source Fields section. Choose a field in the Target Fields section.
    4. You can enter conditions for applying the derivation rule on the Conditionstab.
    5. The settings on the Attributestab are not supported.
    6. You now have to assign the values of the source fields. To do this, choose the Maintain Rule Values pushbutton.
In the table that follows, you can assign values of the target field to combinations of source field values. The first column contains the first source field that you selected, the second column the second source field, and so on. The last column contains the target field. You can then select the relevant values from the possible entries (using input help).
  1. Define a Move
    1. Choose the Create Step pushbutton. Select Movein the dialog box and confirm your entry.
    2. Enter a Step Description.
    3. On the Definitiontab, you have two options: You can either choose a source field, the value of which is then written to the target field [in this case, all of the values of the source field must correspond to short keys for the target field], or you can enter the short key for the target.
