The specification database contains all data relevant for dangerous goods. This data is stored directly for the substance in the form of legal data for a UN number and as a classification key.

Part of the data is stored in the specification database by assigning phrases from Phrase Management to a characteristic of a substance property. The logistics dangerous goods master now uses its own Customizing tables for editing data independently of the specification database. These tables list the valid values and can be used for checking purposes.

In carrying out this activity, you create a relationship between phrase-enabled characteristics in the specification database and Customizing tables. In a further step within navigation, you create an immediate relationship between a phrase, that is, its phrase key, and the key value in the Customizing table. This means that you are defining a value conversion table.

A sample entry for the aggregrate state during transport using the SAP_EHS* standard properties could be structured as follows:

Phrase conversion

  • Characteristic name:,,,,SAP_EHS_1022_023_STOSU
  • Target table:,,,,,,DGTMD
  • Field name:,,,,,,,,STOSU

Value conversion

  • Phrase key: EHS-A08-03 Field value: 3
  • EHS-A08-04 1
  • EHS-A08-12 2

The phrase sets for the characteristics to be converted must have been determined and the check table entries must also have been set up. Neither the phrases nor the check table texts have to be translated beforehand.

Standard settings are not supplied.

At the time this document was written, the following properties require conversion:

  • Property: SAP_EHS_1022_023 with the characteristic: SAP_EHS_1022_023_STOSU
to check table: T646A Aggregate state.
Target table: DGTMD, field name: STOSU
  • Property: SAP_EHS_1022_026 with the characteristic: SAP_EHS_1022_026_DAIN to check table: TDG27 Hazard notes.
    Target table: DGTMD, field names: DAIN1, DAIN2, ... DAIN10

We recommend that you manually compare the entries you have made with the characteristic names and phrase keys in the specification database and with the entries in the check tables.

  1. Under the navigation point "Characteristic conversion," enter the characteristic name of the specification database, the target table, and the (target) field name as the key.
  2. Save the entry and then select it.
  3. Now navigate to "Value conversion" and enter the phrase key (phrase value) and the corresponding field value of the check table.

As both sides of the conversion relationship are entries that are defined by the user, it is not possible to provide settings. A sample entry is documented in the "Example" section.
