In this customizing activity, the escalation rules are defined. When the ECS escalation report is run, the ECS items are evaluated against these rules and get picked. Based on the escalation target type, the target group gets the notification.

To set up the rules, the following fields are available:

  • Escalation Identifier(compulsory field): Unique identifier of the escalation rule
  • Active: If you select the checkbox, the status is set as active
The rules which are marked as active are used by the escalation report
  • Severity of Error(compulsory field): Select whether the error is a hard or a soft error
  • GL Account Type: Set the G/L account type
  • Currency Type: Set the currency type
  • Currency: Set the currency
  • Amount From: Enter the amount range from
  • Amount To: Enter the amount range to
  • Number of Days After Which ECS Item Should be Escalated(compulsory field): Set the number of days after the creation timestamp the ECS items should be escalated
  • Email Target Type(compulsory field): Choose one of the following target types:
  1. Group Assignment: The escalation group maintained in the Customizing activity Configure ECS Owner Group for the ECS owner group will be notified.
  2. Rule Assignment: Create a rule using transaction PFAC and assign the rule.
The agents assigned to this rule will be notified.
  1. HR Hierarchy: Set a value to identify the target group. The target group will be determined using BAdI: ECS Ownership Escalation.
  • Email Target Group(compulsory field): Enter the value for the email target type if the email target type is set as HR Hierarchy or Rule Based.
  • Frequency: Set the number of days after which the ECS item is eligible to be re-escalated after the last escalation timestamp.

The following combinations are allowed:

  1. For hard errors, leave the G\L account type field empty.
  2. For hard errors, only transaction currency type is allowed.
  3. Either fill all of the following fields or leave them all empty:
  • Currency Type

  • Amount From

  • Amount To

  • Currency

Note: For soft errors, the account type, and the currency type other than transaction currency is determined by the posted item.
