In this organizational activity, you are provided with the steps to edit the frequency of the background job SWWDHEX (ABAP report RSWWDHEX) for monitoring and evaluating workflow deadlines and escalations.

In the access control application, you can set deadlines and escalations at specific workflow steps to ensure work is performed according to the company's requirements. The background job monitors the deadlines and escalations. When the background job runs, all deadlines are evaluated. Exceeded deadlines are escalated as appropriate.

You can monitor different date and time deadlines for each workflow step: Requested Start, Latest Start, Requested End, and Latest End. Global escalations are managed by date as Requested End. Stage escalations are managed as Latest End.

The default interval between runtimes is 3 minutes. When you edit the frequency for the background job , use a time interval appropriate with your requirements. For example, if the stage escalation is set for 1 hour after the work item has been generated, then you should schedule the background job at least every hour. Setting it more often would not be of value and uses system resources. Setting it to once a day would not escalate jobs as desired.

If you have completed the activities in the Customizing activity Automatic Workflow Customizing.

To change the frequency for the job execution, start transaction SM37, and edit the frequency for the job SWWDHEX (ABAP report RSWWDHEX).

Note: You can use transaction SWWB to execute the deadline monitoring job immediately from the foreground.
