In this Customizing activity, you create and configure RFC connections to connect Process Control to other internal and external systems.

For information about configuring web service connections, refer to the Web Services activities.

  1. Open the activity (transaction SM59).The Configuration of RFC Connections screen displays.
  2. Click the Create icon to create a new connection. The RFC Destination screen displays.
  3. In the RFC Destination field, enter the name of your remote system.
  4. In the Connection Type field, enter the connection type.
  • For connection to ABAP systems, enter 3.

  • For HTTP Connection to External Server, enter G.

  1. In the Description pane, you can enter up to three descriptions.
  2. Click Save. Additional fields display in the Technical Settings tab.
  3. On the Technical Settings tab, do the following:
  • For connection to ABAP systems, enter the Target Host and System Number. Enter the Gateway Options if required by your system landscape.

  • For connections for HTTP Connection to External Server, enter the Target Host, Service Number, and Path Prefix. Enter the HTTP Proxy Options if required by your system landscape.

  1. On the Logon and Security tab, enter the information for the logon system: Language, Client, User and Password.
  2. Click the Save icon.
  3. Click Connection Test. A message appears at the bottom of the screen stating you either succeeded or failed in making a connection.
