Mapping messages allows you to replace error messages, warnings, information, success messages, termination messages, and exit messages that are not applicable in the current context with appropriate messages. For more information, see Message Mapping.

You can also use this tool to define message mapping based on form scenarios. Meaning that you can display specific messages reconciled on a particular form scenario. If no alternate message is found for a form scenario, the system reads the Customizing settings for generic message mapping: Tools -> Message Mapping.

For information about the system response during message replacement, see SAP Library: HCM Processes and Forms -> Message Mapping Based on Form Scenarios.

You can use the OFF_MSG_MAP parameter to switch off the message mapping functions.

To do this, choose System -> User Profile -> Own Data -> Parameters. Enter OFF_MSG_MAP as the parameter ID and X as the parameter value.

Message mapping is switched on in the standard system.

The context ID HRASR for form scenario-specific message replacement is preset and you do not need to enter it.

After saving a form, the processing logic of the Basic Pay infotype (0008) generates the error message PA 4711: Wage type M610 not permitted for employee grouping XYZ.

The wage type, however, does not exist in the form and is not relevant for an Employee Self-Services or Manager Self-Services user. In Customizing tables, error message PA 4711 is replaced by message XY 4713: Customizing error, send to administrator. This message is also displayed for the end user.
