This IMG activity describes the settings you need to make if you want to make the salary statement available to employees as a PDF file in the Internet/intranet. To do this, you make the settings in the SAP system.

You have successfully completed the Edit Variant and Feature EDTIN.

If you want to include customer-specific requirements in the form conversion, for example to include the company logo, you must make the following settings.

  • Adjust feature ESS Remuneration Statement: Smart Form for Converstion to PDR ( EDPDF). This feature controls the conversion of form data to a PDF file.
  • If the return value of the feature is the name of a Smart Form, the form data is transferred to SAP Smart Forms. SAP Smart Forms then creates the form from here as a PDF file. The Smart Form used must have the same form interface as the standard form HR_ESS_PAYSLIP_TO_PDF. Note the following:
  • If you include large graphics, this can increase the processing time for this transaction.

  • The characters '|' and '-', which are often used in a form for the layout of a text box or for underlining, are interpreted as individual characters in the form '|' and '-' by SAP Smart Forms and are not displayed as a continuous line. SAP Spool displays these characters as a continuous line.

  • The R/3 system requires certain printer information to convert the data into a PDF file. You must enter a printer as the standard value for each user. If you do not do this, the user must enter this information when he or she access the ESS scenarios.
