This activity provides an overview of the functional scope and deployment of the Organizational Chart Visualization.

An Organizational Chart Visualization is available in the following applications in the Manager Self-Services role for Manager Self-Service 1.51:

  • Competency Management: Change Position Details
  • HCM Processes and Forms: Start Process for Employee
  • HCM Processes and Forms: Start Process for Multiple Employees
  • HCM Processes and Forms: Start Organizational Process

The Organizational Chart visualizes the relationships between organizational objects, that is, Organizational units, Jobs, and Positions, as well as Employees, in the form of graphical, interactive hierarchies. The graphical visualization provides an alternate and improved user experience for the existing Object and Data Provider (OADP) user interfaces in the HCM scenarios mentioned above.

You can offer users the organizational chart as an alternative user interface to the established, standard Web Dynpro user interface, for all object selection screens in the applications mentioned above.

Users can perform the following activities in the graphical hierarchy visualization:

  • View different structures and data views of all people and entities in their area of responsibility
  • Search for employees, positions, organizational units, and jobs
  • Display a short profile with more details for an employee or object

You have done the following:

  • Installed the related ABAP Add-on EmbOrgCh 605, as detailed in SAP Note 1485853 (Installation EMBORGCH 605 on ERP 6.0 EHP5).
  • Usedtransaction SICF, chosen the Execute button, and activated the following services:
  • Application for hierarchy visualization (HIER_VIS_UI_WRAPPER) under default_host -> sap -> bc -> webdynpro -> sap -> hier_vis_ui_wrapper.

  • Nakisa embedded org chart (NAKISA_ORGCHART) under default_host -> sap -> public-> Business Suite-> NAKISA_ORGCHART.

  • Defined the organizational plan for your company, including the organizational structure and staff assignments, in Organizational Management.
  • Ensured that the user who is logged on, or the person to whom the user is assigned in the Communication infotype (0105), holds a chief position.

We recommend that you use structural authorizations for the Object and Data Provider.

The Organizational Chart Visualization is based on the Object and Data Provider (OADP) logic. SAP provides a default OADP-based implementation class for the standard Customizing delivered in the Check Standard Organizational Chart Configurationsystem table. You can re-use, and benefit from, the existing business logic already built in the OADP configuration for the MSS applications mentioned above (evaluation paths, object relationships, and so on).

For customer-specific configuration of the structures, data views, and field formatting of the Organizational Chart Visualization in Customizing, you must ensure that the fields you want to re-use are configured in the OADP Customizing.

You can define the following aspects specific to Organizational Chart Visualization in Customizing, under Organizational Chart Visualization:

  • Layout, including colors, font style, order, and display labels
  • Functions of the organizational chart per application, including show or hide zoom, search, filter, and settings panels
  • Adapt structures (which objects are displayed) and data views (which information is displayed per object)

1.,,In the Check Standard Organizational Chart Configurationactivity, you can review (but not change) the standard configuration provided by SAP. If you want to re-use this configuration, you do not need to perform the three subsequent activities.

2.,,In the Transfer Standard Organizational Configuration activity, you can transfer the standard configuration provided by SAP (cross-client system table) into the Maintain Transferred Organizational Chart Configurationactivity (client-dependent customer table).

3.,,In the Import Data from Object and Data Provider Configurationactivity, you can alternatively or additionally import your object structures and data views from the existing OADP configuration into the Maintain Transferred Organizational Chart Configuration table.

4.,,In the Maintain Transferred Organizational Chart Configurationactivity, you can add your own structures and data view, as well as adapt the ones copied from the OADP or from the SAP standard configuration.
