In this step, you define sets of rules that help you determine whether or not employee groups are eligible for a compensation plan at a macro level.

Eligibility rule variants enable you to:

  • Define different rules according to employee groups, also known as eligibility groupings.
  • Apply those rules to a compensation plan.

You could define country-specific variants for bonuses and salary adjustments on the one hand, and a country-independent variant for LTIs on the other hand.

The SAP System is shipped with a set of predefined variants that you can change to meet your company-specific requirements.

This step is required unless you want all your employees to be eligible for all compensation plans.

  1. Select the relevant compensation area.
  2. Choose New entries.
  3. Enter a 4-character code and a description.
  4. Save your entries.

Eligibility rule variants are closely associated with eligibility groupings and eligibility rules.
