Execute this activity to customize attributes that influence the display and behavior of the Planning Overview, an iView that provides managers significant functional enhancements to simplify the administration and execution of the compensation planning cycle. The attributes customized in this activity are not only evident through user interface modifications - for example, in the ability to record comments - but also through improvements in the compensation planning approval process.

The corresponding attributes of the Planning Overview iView are defined per compensation review, and are delineated as follows.

  • Approval Process Configuration
Customize the following attributes to influence the manner in which the Planning Overview is employed to approve compensation reviews.
  • Enable Approval Process

Select this checkbox to establish an approval process for the compensation review at hand. If this checkbox is active, then compensation adjustments will be planned and submitted by the manager, and later approved by a higher-level manager. If this checkbox is not active, then the compensation review will be complete once all adjustments have been planned and submitted; higher-level managers will not explicitly approve the planned data.
  • Send Notification

Select this checkbox if the system should send notifications to managers when a process step requires their attention.
  • Allow Approval Comments

Select this checkbox to permit managers to record approval comments.
  • Allow Rejection Comments

Select this checkbox to permit managers to record rejection comments.
  • Allow Deep Approval

Select this checkbox to enable the automatic approval of compensation planning for subordinate organizational units.
  • Planning Overview Configuration
Customize these attributes to influence the processing and display of compensation reviews in the Planning Overview.
  • In the Basic Settings section, an Object Selection is required.

  • By default, when maintaining the attributes of the Planning Overview per performance review, all organizational units are assumed to have eligible employees, meaning that the corresponding checkbox is active by default. If you deselect this checkbox for a corresponding compensation review, then it is important to note that you must execute the Prepare Organizational Units for Compensation Planning report for that review before it can be displayed in the Planning Overview.

  • In the subsequent sections, perform selections to determine the manner that organizational data, budgets and amounts spent will be displayed.
  • Finally, at the bottom of the screen, determine the level of access that will be granted to superiors in displaying and editing planning.
