In this Customizing activity, you define which alternative position management procedure is to be used for certain types of positions. You also enter a percentage that is used to calculate the threshold for switching from the default position management procedure to the alternative position management procedure.

The Customizing records for the assignment of the default position management procedure are replicated to this Customizing activity. If the records for the default position management procedure change (for example, an assignment is deleted, changed, or created), the system automatically informs you of these changes the next time you use this Customizing activity. Note the following:

  • If a record has been deleted, it is no longer displayed in this Customizing activity.
  • If a record has been changed, the system selects the record in the list so that you can check it.

You can also check for changed, missing, or new records in the Customizing activity Run Consolidated Assignment Check.

You have assigned the default position management procedure in the Customizing activity Assign Position Management Procedure.

According to French GAAP, a linear amortized cost (LAC) method or a scientific amortized cost (SAC) method must be used for fixed rate securities, depending on the premium or discount at purchase. If the difference between the purchase price and the nominal price is less than 10% of the nominal price, the LAC method must be used. If the difference is more than 10%, the SAC method must be used.

In this case, you would make the following settings:

  • Default position management procedure: LAC
  • Alternative position management procedure: SAC
  • Percentage to calculate threshold: 10%
