ISHMED_CONN_PAT_EXT - Patient Creation by Connectivity Services

In this IMG activity you define whether patients that are referred from externally are to be created in i.s.h.med with patient master data or with provisional patient master data (provisional patients).

During an external incoming "query" (clinical order/appointment/document) an appropriate assignment to a patient in i.s.h.med is required.

On one hand, this assignment must satisfy data protection requirements, on the other hand, it should be open for future patient assignment procedures (Master Patient Index PMI , Patient Identifier Cross Referencing PIX, #) sein.

Furthermore, it should also be possible for the external facility to search for entities which it did not initiate itself, and to "find" patients it referred.

In addition, different installations also have different requirements regarding the option provided in i.s.h.med to record patients as real and provisional patients. In some scenarios it would be an advantage to first enter patients referred from external facilities nas provisional patients, until they actually arrive for admission when they can then be transformed into patients with patient master data. In other scenarios the creation of patients with patient master data will be desired (e.g. when an intramural PMI exists).

The cross-institutional system parameter N1CXPAT, Connectivity: Control Patient Creation from External Facilities, can contain the following values:

• P ... Patients created by external facilities are created as provisional patients in i.s.h.med (table NPAP); default value

• A ... Patients created by external facilities are created as patients with patient master in i.s.h.med (table NPAT)

Note:

If this system parameter is not maintained, the system will always create patients created exetrnally as provisional patients.
