SAP E-Book

In this IMG activity you determine how you wish to use measured units in medication. The system will then only show you the units, in input helps and list boxes, which are permitted. For example, you can determine which units you wish to use for weights. The system then only offers you these units for specifying a patient's weight in dose calculation.

All the units to be used in medication have already been configured in the IMG activity SAP NetWeaver > General Settings > Check Units of Measure. At least one unit of measure has been configured for the exclusive use as a cycle duration unit. We recommend that you allocate meaningful labels for cycle duration units, for example DOS for doses.

To determine the use of units in medication, set the following indicators for each corresponding unit:

  • Duration: You use this unit to specify time durations, for example an order duration.
  • Cycle Duration: You use this unit to specify order durations across a number of administrations (doses).
You should only set the Cycle Duration indicator for units which you have previously created as exclusive cycle duration units in the IMG activity SAP NetWeaver > General Settings > Check Units of Measure. Also set the Duration indicator.
Configure at least one cycle duration unit.
Example: You determine the duration of an order with this unit as ten administrations (doses)
.
  • Weight: You use this unit for weight information such as, for example, the patient's weight in the dose, ingredient quantity and flow rate calculation.
  • Height: You use this unit for height information such as, for example, the patient's height in the dose, ingredient quantity and flow rate calculation.
  • Volume: You use this unit for quantity information, for example for flow rates.
  • Time: You use this unit for times.
  • Container: You use this unit to determine the issuable quantities in the drug master, for example ampoules or bottles.
  • Strength: You use this unit for agent quantities in the drug master. The system also provides this unit for doses.
  • % Strength: You use this unit to determine a change as a percentage.
  • Dose: You use this unit for quantities, for example for administration quantities in pieces or tablets.
  • Temperature: You use this unit for temperatures, for example for storage regulations in the drug master.

With the exception of cycle duration units, you can use these units multiple times.

Note:

Important! Ensure that all units which belong to the Timedimension in the SAP unit customizing, have the Durationflag as well as the Timeflag set in the medication usage. If this is not the case, errors can occur during certain calculations using durations, which can lead to the incorrect display of time periods in the chart.
