In this Customizing activity, you define card categories which are used to distinguish between smart cards and magnetic cards.
In China, patients register using smart cards or magnetic cards in a hospital. The settings are used in transactions in which you can search for a patient.
The Basic Medical Insurance (BMI) requires the card category and the card data in the following processes:
- Outpatient process
- Inpatient process
The card reader recognizes the card category and transfers the appropriate data to the patient master data. You specify the document category to generate the proper insurance relationship.
If a hospital uses the BMI communication, you can select the card medium according to the card category in the Card Medium Type field.
By assigning an institution to a card medium, you specify that the card medium is used by the institution and appears as an option in the HC Smart Card Selection dialog box when users choose the Transfer HC Smart Card button. If you do not assign any institution to a card medium, you specify that the card medium is used by all institutions.
You have activated your implementation for BAdI ISH_CARD_READER to support smart cards and magnetic cards.
