Applies to the Italian country version only:

The hospital discharge record report (SDO) is only able to transmit a limited number of DRG-relevant diagnoses and procedures to the receiving authority (SSN). If the number of DRG-relevant diagnoses and/or procedures entered in IS-H exceeds the number that can be transferred by the SDO report, this may lead to different DRG grouping results.

In this Customizing activity, you can restrict the maximum number of DRG-relevant diagnoses and procedures that can be entered in IS-H for a case. You can make this setting for specific institutions and times. Depending on the context, the system displays either a warning or an error message if the allowed number is exceeded. An error message is displayed in the following situations:

  • Individual grouping of case in the DRG Work Station
  • Mass grouping of cases using report RNUNDRG0A
  • Saving diagnoses in the DRG Work Station
  • Saving procedures in the DRG Work Station
  • Status change in the medical documentation of a case

Please note that the Italian DRG system defines the discharge date of an inpatient case as the reference date for a validity period. For this reason, you must define the relevant periods for interpreting a date as the discharge date before you can execute this Customizing activity. Make sure appropriate entries have been maintained in the Customizing activity Specify Discharge Date as Reference for Catalog Determination.

The function for restricting the DRG-relevant diagnoses and procedures also requires that you activate the BAdI implementation ISH_DRGDIAPRC_IT. This implementation of BAdI ISH_MD_PROOF is inactive in the standard delivery. You can activate it in Customizing under SAP Healthcare - Industry-Specific Components for Hospitals -> Medical/Nursing Documentation -> Business Add-Ins for Medical/Nursing Documentation -> BAdI: Consistency Check for Medical Documentation.

You should also note that according to the standard settings, only one table entry is displayed for each institution as a result of the time-dependent Customizing settings. If you want to display all the table entries for an institution, you can select the row in question and choose Expand <-> Collapse (Ctrl + F8) to make all the corresponding entries visible.

If a case has not yet been discharged and there is therefore no discharge date, the system uses the current system date as the reference date instead.

Entries without an institution are not allowed. You can enter a wildcard in the Institution field. These entries then apply to all institutions unless a more specific entry is found.

You should only perform this Customizing activity if you want to restrict the maximum number of DRG diagnoses and/or procedures allowed. The system interprets blank entries (or entries of 0) as "no restriction". Values greater than 0 always relate to the total number of principal and secondary diagnoses and the total number of main and secondary procedures. For example, if a maximum of 6 DRG-relevant diagnoses are allowed (MxDg=6), the system displays an error or warning message if one of the following combinations of entries is found:

  • One DRG principal diagnosis and more than 5 DRG secondary diagnoses
  • No DRG principal diagnosis and more than 6 DRG secondary diagnoses
