SAP E-Book

In this IMG activity, you store a geographical area catalog for the country concerned. Geographical areas are used in the patient master and for case-related data in the IS-H System.

You can enter your own geographical area catalog, or import the appropriate country-specific catalog. IS-H development does not supply a geographical area catalog. You can obtain both the geographical area catalog and the postal code catalog for Germany from the following address:

Deutsche PostConsult GmbH
Herbert-Rabius-Str. 24
53225 Bonn
Tel: 0228/9722-422

If you want to work with this catalog, report RNUPLZ00 is at your disposal for importing the data. Before importing this data, please read the corresponding program documentation and refer to the SAP release note, since the respective versions often use different formats (SAP note 24560 Importing Postal Codes - RNUPLZ00).

Any further entries or corrections you require can be realized using individual maintenance.

Geographical area maintenance enables you to modify existing entries, or to create new entries.

  1. The system first displays a dialog box where you can specify search criteria, or choose the Create.
If you want to modify existing entries, specify search criteria, and then choose Search.
  1. Select the required entries in the resulting matchlist and choose Change or Delete.

To save your changes on the database, choose Save.

Three options exist when you are specifying a geographical area:

  • You entered the postal code but no geographical area - the system uses the country-specific geographical area catalog to determine the geographical area belonging to the postal code. If several geographical areas exist, you automatically branch into the geographical area search. If a geographical area does not exist, the system issues an error message.
  • You entered a geographical area, but no postal code - the system checks the geographical area catalog to determine whether you have entered a valid geographical area. Note that, in this case, the postal code is not determined automatically.
  • You enter the geographical area and the postal code - the system checks whether this combination features in the country-specific geographical area catalog. If this is not the case, the system issues an error message.

If you have not specified detailed geographical areas for specific postal codes in the catalog, you can enter an * entry for these postal codes for each country.

Your healthcare facility is located near the border with a neighboring country. The postal code catalog contains several postal codes of your neighboring country, however there are no entries in the geographical area catalog. If you would like to group all patients from your neighboring country under a specific geographical area, enter a geographical area key for the corresponding country and assign the postal code * to it. You could use the name of your neighboring country to identify this key.

Consequently, when you enter a patient from a neighboring country, the system determines the geographical area key that is assigned to the postal code * and assigns it to the patient.
