In this IMG activity, you set up order types. You need order types if you wish to preregister patients in your system.

An order type defines the properties of an order/preregistration item. These involve the following definitions:

  • The number of order fillers to which the preregistration item can be addressed.
  • The number of order initiators (placers) to which the order type is made available.
  • The scope of data and the appearance of a preregistration in which you use the order type.
  • Default settings for the preregistration or preregistration item: case type, movement category, waiting list, and so on.
  • Moreover, IS-H distinguishes elemental order types from profile types:
  • You create the elemental order type using components and design elements (tab pages). When a preregistration is entered, specifying an elemental order type generates exactly one preregistration item.

  • You create the profile type using existing elemental order types. When a preregistration is entered, specifying a profile type generates a preregistration item for each elemental order type assigned.

For you to be able to enter an order type, the following preparations must be completed:

  • To be able to enter order types, you must have authorization for the N1COT transaction and the relevant institution (authorization object N_EINR_TCO).
  • The order initiators (placers) and order fillers for which you are setting up the order type must be set up in the organizational structure of your institution or defined as business partners.
  • You can stipulate default values for a number of fields (for example Waiting List, Preregistration Status) in the order type that the system applies when new preregistrations are entered. Make the necessary Customizing settings for this first.

Since order types are highly dependent on the organizational structure of your institution and on their intended use, the standard IS-H shipment does not contain any order types.

The initial screen of this IMG activity lists all of the order types that have already been defined.

Choosing the Create Order Type pushbutton takes you into the detail screen for creating a new elemental order type or a new profile type. To access the detail screen for changing an order type, double-click the relevant order type, or choose the Change Order Type pushbutton.

Enter the Short Name, Name and the above mentioned properties on the order type screen.

You wish to preregister patients for outpatient eye surgery in the Ophthalmology department. The preregistrations can be initiated by the eye clinic and by referring physicians. The referring physicians phone in to the ophthalmology department secretaries' office.

To accommodate this scenario, you set up an order type with the following properties:

  • Short Name: OPEYE
  • Name: Eye Surgery
  • Since the order type should enable patients to be preregistered in the OPEYE operating facility, enter the OPEYE service facility as a Possible Order Filler on the Fillers tab page.
  • Enter the eye clinic as the initiating organizational unit on the Initiators tab page. So that the secretary can enter referring physicians as initiators in the preregistration, set the For External Bus. Partners indicator. This definition enables the eye clinic and secretaries to enter preregistrations.
New preregistrations should be assigned the Entered status, and should also be put on a waiting list. For this purpose, define the preregistration status Entered and the waiting list Outpatient Eye Surgery and enter these as default values in the order type on the Other tab page.
