Note

  • You can perform maintenance in a directed manner using the expert mode or you can be guided by a Customizing workflow. The workflow accesses the detailed standard Customizing documentation for output control.

  • Access sequences
An access sequence is a search strategy used by the SAP System to search for valid condition records. In the access sequence, you determine which field combinations are to be searched and the order in which condition tables are to be searched.

  • Output types
An output type (e.g. offer, order confirmation) is an ID code for the content of the output and is used to manage parameters in output determination. An access sequence is assigned to the output type, which in turn contains an assignment to condition tables. A processing program or a processing routine is assigned to the output type for each transmission medium. This is accessed when the respective output status record is processed.

  • Output determination procedures
In the output determination procedure, you determine which output types (condition types) should be considered in which order. During output determination, the SAP System determines which output determination procedure is valid for a business transaction automatically and takes account of the output types it contains sequentially. In a subsequent step, you assign the output determination procedure to the respective object type for which output determination is to be performed.
  • You should not change the access sequences, output types and output determination procedures that are supplied with the standard system.
  • If you want to create a new access sequence or output type, you should copy similar ones that already exist and then make the necessary changes.
  • If you define your own access sequences or output types, you should use a key that starts with the letters Y or Z, since these name spaces are reserved for this purpose in the standard system.
  • You should define your own output determination procedures that only contain the output types that you use. This avoids unnecessary accessing of output types.

Please maintain access sequences, output types and output determination procedures using the Customizing workflow or in a directed manner using the expert mode.

  • If you want to maintain requirements for accesses or output types please proceed as follows: From the Conditions for Output screen, please choose Goto -> Requirements. The maintenance screen for requirements appears.
  • If you want to maintain a form, select this on the maintenance screen of a processing program for an output type and choose Display form. The form definition display appears and you can switch to change mode here.
