You can define fact sets with this IMG activity. With fact sets you are able to control the data entry on the contract editing screen. The system derives the relevant fact set automatically by analyzing the assignment of fact set to contract object type which is done in a separate IMG activity.

You can grant authorization rights and define the time dependency type at fact set level . You can also assign an authority group that serves as a tool to grant or deny users authorization to create, modify, or display fact set data.

You assign at least one fact type to each fact set. Each fact type contains information that is relevant for the taxation of a certain type of object. Furthermore, you also assign a revenue type to the fact set in order to specify which kind of revenue is expected for this fact set.

You do not need to assign a revenue type to fact sets that you are using for the property tax functionality.

You define at fact type level whether

  • multiple values are allowed
  • the fact type is time-dependent
  • the entry of a value is mandatory

It is also possible to grant authorization rights at fact type level.

Fact categories and fact types have to be defined.

SAP delivers fact type RG01 and BILL.

You need fact type RG01 in order to access the registration data relevant for a contract object. If you use the Registration function you must assign fact type RG01 to the corresponding fact set.

Note:
SAP uses fact type RG01 to map the taxpayer's tax obligation. To use SAP's standard implementation for tax obligations, you have to assign fact type RG01 to your fact set and select both the time-dependency and multiple value options.

The BILL fact type is necessary if the system is to bill object-based tax. The billing-relevant master data is saved in a fact set. At the very least, the BILL fact type must be assigned to this fact set so that the Business Rule Framework (BRF) includes the contract object in billing.

The BILL fact type is also necessary to prevent the multiple billing of contracts that are assigned to several business partners and contract accounts.

If contracts should be billed proportionally for different business partners and contract accounts, you must enter the relevant percentages. Note that the proportionate distribution is not performed automatically; the facts must be evaluated in the BRF.

Example:
A contract is assigned to business partners 1, 2, and 3. Facts are defined for the contract object in the contract account data with the BILL fact type for business partners 1 and 2. This means that business partner 3 is not included in billing. The percentages that you enter for business partners 1 and 2 have to add up to 100%. The combination 100% + 0% = 100% is allowed. The percentage 0% means that the business partner can be billed using the BRF, but factor 0% can be included in the calculation of the amounts.

The BILL facts type comprises the following data: business partner, contract account, contract object, and percentage.

You define a fact set AUTO for all characteristics relevant to the taxation of a vehicle. The fact set description is Vehicle Characteristics and Ownership, the time dependency type is Date Only.

This fact set consists of two fact types, one for the vehicle's attributes and one for ownership. Vehicle attributes that are relevant for taxation are fuel type, CO2 emissions, vehicle taxation class and engine size. For each of these attributes the entry of a value is mandatory and only one value is allowed. These attributes are not time-dependent as they do not change over time.

Ownership could be by two persons and the ownership could change over time. This component therefore has to be flagged Mandatory with Multiple Entries and Time-Dependent.
