In this step, you define the possible evaluation variants for postal code areas and the corresponding evaluation areas. You then assign the postal codes to the evaluation areas.

The IS-PSD system enables you to define areas based on postal codes for order evaluations and statistics. Postal codes are structured in areas using the following customizing tables:

  • Postal Code Area Evaluation Variants
In this table, you can define the name of a 3-character evaluation variant and create an area structure of postal codes under this key.
You can specify this key in various statistics programs so that the data for evaluation, such as live subscriptions, can also be structured according to areas.
You use postal code area evaluation variant '001' to structure the postal codes according to regions and whether or not they are abroad, and '002' to structure them according to counties.
  • Postal Code Evaluation Areas
Before you can maintain postal code areas, the system displays a dialog box in which you must specify the postal code area evaluation variant. Postal code areas are assigned uniquely to an evaluation variant.
Once you have specified an evaluation variant, you define the keys and texts for evaluation areas in the table now displayed. The structure of the postal code area is defined in the next step (see the transaction Assign postal codes to postal code evaluation areas).
  • Assignment of Postal Codes to Postal Code Evaluation Areas
In this table, you define how the evaluation areas are made up of postal codes and/or regions. Before you can maintain the assignment, the system displays a dialog box in which you must enter the evaluation variant. The structure of postal code areas depends on the evaluation variant.
You can assign the following to a postal code area:
  • Individual postal code

  • Postal code interval

  • Individual country

  • Country interval

You can make as many assignments as you wish to a postal code area. Assignments must not overlap if this means that a postal code cannot be assigned uniquely to an area.
