This Customizing activity describes the relevant customizing activities that you need to complete to integrate Internal Self-Services (ISS) for Financials. In most cases, the customizing activities are located in Customizing for Master Data Governance (MDG). This is because Internal Self-Services for Financialsutilizes a self-services framework that is based on MDG technology.

The modeling in MDG is based on data models. SAP delivers the data model IS to facilitate a rapid implementation of Internal Self-Services for Financials. The data model contains a number of predefined entities and relationships. You can use these entities and the customizing activities listed below to implement self-services for a number of business processes, such as creating an internal order or requesting an account posting.

However, if you adapt the data model to match your implementation's specific needs, you may need to modify the relationships within the data model.

You can also use the activities listed below to change the user interfaces for self-services, change the processing logic and integrate these services into the service map.

For more information the overall configuration process, see Customizing ISS for Financials.

Before you can begin the Customizing activities outlined below, you need to define the self-services system landscape. For general information about this, see Integration with Internal Self-Services for Financials.

Note: There are a number of specific settings that you need to consider while integrating Internal Self-Services for Financials. For more information about this see Service Map Integration.

The processing logic for ISS is based on the data model IS . The predefined entities and relationships between them required for the self-services are defined in this data model. However, if you adapt the data model to match your implementation's specific needs, you need to modify the relationships within the data model. You can also use the activities listed below to change the self-service UIs, the processing logic and to integrate these services into the service map.

This Customizing section is structured as follows:

Different areas like Financial or Logistic are captured in different data models within MDG. All necessary entities and their relationships are modeled within a data model. SAP delivers the standard data model IS to facilitate the integration of ISS. You can reuse this data model directly without changing the predefined integrations or you can adapt it to suit your specific business needs.
You can use these Customizing activities to modify the user interface (UI) for Internal Self-Services for Financials. The Customizing activities are located in Customizing for MDG. You can modify the default settings or enhance the UI if you add new attributes to the entities within the data model IS.
  • Process Modeling
The process of requesting a self-service (such as the change of master data like cost center or requesting a financials document posting) is controlled by MDG's Change Request. In this Customizing activity, you define which process steps are used and the organizational area responsible for processing these steps. The change request contains all information from the self-service request, including attachments and notes for the reasons of the request.
A change request is also linked with a workflow template from SAP Workflow. In this Customizing activity, you define the workflow steps. You assign a a processor to these steps.
This customizing step is independent of MDG. Self-services can be launched from different user roles. However, each user would like to have a single location where he or she can reach all the relevant self-services. This is facilitated by a service map. This customizing step describes how to integrate Internal Self-Services for Financials into such a service map.
