In this Customizing activity, you maintain the common fields and standard attributes of a reference product group, maintain the product attributes of a reference product, define how the product attributes of the reference product are mapped to billing master data, and then assign a price template or a discount template to the billing-relevant attributes.

You have defined a reference product group, a product group, and a reference product containing classes and characteristics that are based on a billing schema.

You have populated the common fields for the reference product.

Using Number Range Object (transaction SNRO), you specified an interval for the number range object ISUC_UIL_M (Mapping ID Number Range).

When maintaining the common fields of a reference product, the following settings are standard:

  • You enter a unique reference product group.
  • You specify the following:
  • A product group

  • A product type

  • The characteristic name of a reference product

  • The characteristic name of a rate category

  • The characteristic name of a creation method

  • The characteristic name of a valid-from date

  • The characteristic name of a valid-to date

When maintaining the standard attributes of the reference product group, the following settings are standard:

  • You specify a name of the standard attribute.
  • You specify a characteristic name of the standard attribute.
  • You select the Add-On checkbox for configurable standard attributes.
  • You avoid deleting maintained standard attributes.
  • You must assign the maintained standard attributes to all the reference products that are assigned to the reference product group.
  • You cannot delete a standard attribute that is maintained in the Maintain Standard Attributes folder of the dialog structure if the standard attribute is maintained in the Maintain Operands folder of the dialog structure.

When maintaining a reference product, the following settings are standard:

  • The material number of the reference product must already exist in the system.
  • The reference product must be grouped under the specified reference product group.
  • All the reference products contain the characteristic names of the common fields and the characteristic names of the standard attributes.
  • If you delete a reference product, all the entries that are dependent on the reference product are deleted.
  • All the standard attribute characteristics of the reference product group exist in the reference product.
  • All the common field characteristics that you maintain for the reference product exist in the reference product.
  • A valid rate category value exists in the reference product characteristics.

When maintaining the operands of a reference product, the following settings are standard:

  • Any material numbers of reference products or characteristic names that you add must already exist in the system.
  • Any material numbers of reference products that you add must already be assigned a characteristic name of a rate category characteristic.
  • For each record, you specify a unique combination of a material number of a reference product and a characteristic name. If you specify a combination that is not unique, the existing entry in the table is overwritten.
  • For each record, you specify a unique combination of semantics type, semantics name 1, and optionally semantics name 2.
  • For each record that is billing relevant, you specify an operand. If the record is both billing and time-slice relevant, you specify an operand and the characteristic name of a time slice.
  • For each record that is of the sales attribute semantics type, you do not specify an operand or the characteristic name of a time slice.
  • For each record that is of the one-time charge semantics type, you specify an operand but do not specify the characteristic name of a time slice.
  • The mapping ID is autoincremented and hidden.
  • You enter a user-defined text that describes the operand.
  • You can map the standard attribute characteristic names to an operand.
  • You select the Standard Attribute semantics type to map standard attribute characteristics to operands.
  • You do not select the Standard Attribute semantics type for characteristics that are not maintained as standard attributes.
  • You do not enter a semantics name 1 and a semantics name 2 for the Standard Attribute semantics type.
  • You cannot use a characteristic that is maintained as a standard attribute for any semantics type other than Standard Attribute.
  • Characteristics of the Standard Attribute semantics type cannot be mapped to a characteristic name of a time slice.
  • The reference product contains all the characteristics that are mapped to operands.

When maintaining the price template of a price operand, the following settings are standard:

  • Before specifying a price, you specify an operand category and then press Enter to automatically populate the price category.
  • The field help of operand category populates according to the price operands that are in the Maintain Operandsfolder. You maintain a price operand before you can maintain its price template.
  • The operands that you maintain in the Maintain Operands folder should have the Product-Rel. Operand checkboxes selected.

When maintaining the discount template of a discount operand, the following settings are standard:

  • Before specifying a discount, you specify an operand category and then press Enter to automatically populate the discount category.
  • The field help of operand category populates according to the discount operands that are in the Maintain Operands folder.
  • The discount field help populates according to the specified operand category.

Using the Maintain Common Fields folder in the dialog structure, you maintain the fields that will be inherited among all the utilities product variants that the product manager defines based on the reference product. You maintain the fields by specifying the reference product group, under which your reference product is grouped, and then specifying the characteristic name of the reference product and the characteristic names of the common field characteristics that you assigned to the non-configurable class of the reference product. Then, you save your changes.

Using the Maintain Standard Attribute folder in the dialog structure, you maintain the standard attribute name and map it to a characteristics name. If your standard attribute is configurable, select the Add-On checkbox. Then, save your changes. All the standard attributes that you maintain are inherited by all the reference products that are assigned to the reference product group.

Using the Maintain Reference Product folder in the dialog structure, you add a new entry for each material number of your reference products.

Using the Maintain Operands folder in the dialog structure, you map the billing-relevant attributes of the reference product to the corresponding price operands and discount operands of the billing schema. If an attribute is time-slice relevant, you further map the attribute to the characteristic name of the time slice. You map each product attribute to a semantics type, a user-defined business-oriented semantics name, and a user-defined text. Then, you save your changes.

For each price operand in the Maintain Operands folder in the dialog structure, you select the record and then choose the Maintain Price Template folder from the dialog structure. Specify the operand category and price to automatically populate the price category and the price level. Then, you save your changes.

For each discount operand in the Maintain Operands folder in the dialog structure, you select the record and then choose the Maintain Discount Template view from the dialog structure. You specify the discount operand category and the discount key. Then, save your changes.
