IWP_0030 - Define VirtualProviders in the BW System

In this activity, you can define VirtualProviders in SAP NetWeaver BW. Using a VirtualProvider, you can define a standard report (query) in SAP NetWeaver BW, that is independent of a generated audit package. These VirtualProviders are based on existing InfoObjects and are represented, at runtime, on the generated InfoObjects of the audit packages.

1. Define a VirtualProvider in SAP NetWeaver BW. This VirtualProvider is based on the function module Assignment Function Module for Virtual Provider 'Version 2' (IWP_VPROV_V2). The settings must be made in accordance with the definition of variant 2.
2. Create the VirtualProvider from the existing InfoObjects and activate the Provider. The VirtualProvider must contain InfoObject /ILM/WORKP. This InfoObject is created the first time an audit package is generated.
3. Define the logical fields of the VirtualProvider (table name and field name) and their assignments to the InfoObjects being used. You do not have to enter the assignment to InfoObject /ILM/WORKP here.

After the extraction, you can run reports using the VirtualProvider. Note: The audit package must be defined as a selection criteria, and the selection must be limited to only one value.
