SAP E-Book

In this IMG activity, you make basic settings for REA. These include:

  • Version management
  • Control of the declaration and origin of the transaction data
  • Article master data and packaging master data storage
  • Use of SD/MM conditions
  • Use of global REA data filters
  • Event logging
  • Form output

You have to make the following settings:

  • Versions
Here you stipulate whether version management in REA is automatic or manual. Usually, automatic version management is used.
  • Control of the declaration and origin of the transaction data

  • Information structures
If you use information structures as a data source for transaction data in REA, you have to declare them here.

  • Source fields
You have to define the source tables and source fields for several characteristics of the transaction data here. During declaration processing, this field information is used, for example, to determine the customer number, country or region, and so on from the transaction data.

  • FI integration
If you have activated FI integration, REA documents can be transferred directly from the declaration system to accounting (FI). To enable this, you must make the appropriate settings to the document type of the recycling partner.

  • Article/packaging master
Here you can maintain properties of master data maintenance in REA.
  • Distributed master data maintenance
This function enables you to access bills of material in other SAP systems when maintaining master data.

  • Controls
If you switch master data maintenance to controls, REA provides a new user interface that offers improved support when you maintain master data manually on the article and packaging screens.

  • Packaging without material master record
You can specify whether packaging without a material master record can be created and used.

The prerequisite for this is that you have also set the Use Controls for Master Data Maintenance indicator.
  • Use variants
You can specify whether you can use variants for master data in the REA component.

The prerequisite for this is that you have also set the Use Controls for Master Data Maintenance indicator.
  • Use enhanced price/cost calculation
You can specify whether you can use the enhanced functions for price calculation and cost calculation. The prerequisite for this is that you have also set the Use Controls for Master Data Maintenance indicator.

  • Application server buffer
If this indicator is activated, the following configuration data for price calculation is stored in a buffer on the application server, independent of the user (index J7):

- Customizing for fractions
- Price lists and the links to partner fractions
- Recycling partner master data
This particularly accelerates the price calculation in the master data dialogs.
When a price list or recycling partner is changed, the data in the buffer of the application server on which the user is logged on loses its validity. Imports or changes to Customizing for fractions do not lead to a loss of validity.
If you are using several application servers, when you activate this buffering function you should note that when changes are made to a price list, a recycling partner, or Customizing for fractions, the buffers on all application servers lose their validity.
The buffer (shared memory) can be managed in the transaction ST02.
  • Master data buffering
You can specify how master data for the Recycling Administration component is to be buffered in the declaration system and in the information systems. This enables you to accelerate the processing of master data in the declaration system and information systems. You specify the buffer size as a percentage of the total master data volume. If the buffer size is exceeded, the system replaces the buffer contents according to an LRU algorithm (Least Recently Used). If you process large volumes of master data, the system may request more main memory space within the LUW. The buffer size actually used depends on the number of different master data entities or the sequence in which the master data is processed.
The prerequisite for master data buffering is sufficient system resources. Take this into account when selecting the buffer size.

  • Data filters
Data filters enable you to identify REA-relevant events within the master data and transaction data. Data filters can apply globally throughout REA and also only for specific recycling partners in one company code and country or region.
Here you stipulate the use of the global data filters whose values you define in the IMG activity with the same name (Sales Areas, Billing Types, and so on).
The exit function enables you to store a custom algorithm for evaluating the billing documents at item level.
  • Event logging
Event logging enables you to stipulate the level of detail of the log file and of the single record log for the declaration. You can also specify whether the log settings are configured in REA Customizing or for the document type.
  • Form formatting
The specific form formatting for the recycling partners in REA is handled by SAP Smart Forms. You must set the indicator with the same name and must no longer use the old form processor Jetform.
