In this section, you define how the loan number is put together using the components you defined in the previous step. You can define this for each product type in the company code.

For each product type:

  • Define the start position within the contract number for the corresponding component (create a table line for each component).
  • Choose the component you have already defined.
  • Determine whether the component number is to be numeric or alphanumeric.
  • Define the generation type for the component. The following entries are usually appropriate:
  • Master number: 1,2,4,5,8

  • Sequential number: 3,X

  • Check digit: 6

  • Other components (prefix,...): user-defined

  • Enter the component value for constants.
  • If a component number is determined from a number range, enter the number range.
  • The other four fields are used for determining the check digit (component with generation type):
  • the check digit group

  • the check digit procedure

  • the form routine for calculating the check digit

  • the module pool, in which the form routine is defined.

  • You should be aware that number composition can be defined for each company code and for each product type but the number can also be assigned for all company codes if you access
  • the same number range or

  • objects (such as file no. object number) which are not specific to one particular company code when you assign master numbers.

  • If you choose generation type 8 for number assignment, you can also search online for existing loans with the same master number and assign a number on the basis of the master number (for instance, with a sequential number). If you define the master number
  • as the file number, you can search for existing files and create new files directly.

  • as the object number, you can search for existing objects and create new objects directly.
