Define renewal or termination clauses for legal contexts and legal transactions.

In this configuration activity, you can define the renewal or termination clauses. It is available in Manage Contexts and Manage Legal Transactions applications. A renewal contract, in the context of Enterprise Contract Management, is considered as a contract for an additional period with the same terms and obligations as a prior contract and does not introduce new obligations or rights.

The renewal can occur actively or passively/automatically.

• Active renewal is where one party expresses the wish to renew and the corresponding extension is maintained accordingly in Legal Content Management.

• Auto renewal is where the system checks for expiring contracts and extends the validity period automatically before the contract reaches its expiration date.

Important: Renewal of a contract does not imply replacing an old contract by a new contract with possible changes to content, risks, and obligations.
