Make custom delivery document fields available as parameters for flexible delivery document numbering.

This parameter catalog lists the parameters that the Configurable Parameters and Formulas (CPF) framework can include in the formulas that facilitate flexible delivery document numbering.

Each parameter represents a header field of the delivery document that is to be created. In the subsequent configuration activity Define Formulas for Flexible Delivery Document Numbering, you can define a decision table that evaluates the formula parameter values according to your business requirements. The decision table contains the rules that the system uses to allocate specific number range intervals (and, optionally, number range prefixes) to delivery documents that fulfill the criteria you specify in the rules.

In the current configuration activity, you can do the following:

  • View the standard parameters and edit their descriptions
  • Create new parameters by defining custom delivery document header fields as additional parameters

To create a new parameter based on a custom field, create a new entry and enter the custom field's technical name (for example, YY1_MY_HEADER_FIELD) into the Parameter Name column. You can also use the input help to display a list of the available fields.

The custom field types that you can use as parameters include the following:

  • Text
  • Numerical text
  • Checkbox
  • Code list

If you want, you can also edit the new parameter's description. Finally, confirm your entry and save.

After saving, your new parameter is available for inclusion in formulas in the subsequent configuration activity Define Formulas for Flexible Delivery Document Numbering, where you can then include the parameter in your decision tables.

Before you can add a custom field to the parameter catalog, the custom field must exist in the extensibility business context Shipping: Delivery. Developers can create custom fields for all business contexts in the Custom Fieldsapp. For more information, search for 'Custom Fields'in the relevant version of SAP S/4HANA Cloud on SAP Help Portal.

The following parameters are the standard parameters predefined by SAP. Each parameter corresponds to a standard field in the delivery document header.

  • DELIVERYTYPE
An indicator that controls delivery processing.
Example: A normal delivery and a returns delivery are assigned different delivery types. as a result, the system processes each of these documents in a different way.
  • SHIPPINGPOINT
An organizational unit that performs shipping processing. The shipping point is the part of the company responsible for the particular type of shipping, the necessary shipping materials and the means of transport.
Example: Possible shipping points include a mail depot or a company's plant railway station.
  • SALESORGANIZATION
An organizational unit responsible for the sale of certain products or services. The responsibility of a sales organization may include legal liability for products and customer claims.
  1. Decide whether you want to include custom delivery document header fields in your decision tables for flexible delivery document numbering. If yes, continue below.
  2. Enter the technical names of the custom fields that you want to define as parameters in the Parameter Namecolumn of the current configuration activity. Confirm your entries and save.
  3. In the subsequent configuration activity Define Formulas for Flexible Delivery Document Numbering, you can now choose to include your new custom parameters in any formula that you create. For more information, see the configuration help of the abovementioned configuration activity.
