In this step you first define limit types and then assign limit characteristics to these limit types.

The limit type is used to define the procedure for determining limit utilizations, as well as the transaction indicator, the business partner relationship category and the evaluation depth.

Via the limit characteristics you set up the criteria which determine whether a transaction belongs to the limit type.

  1. Define limit types
    1. Choose New entries.
The New Entries: Details of Created Entries screen appears.
    2. Enter a three-character alphanumeric key and a name for the limit type.
    3. Under Limit utilizations enter a determination procedure (at present only the 'volume' procedure is available) and select the transaction indicator.
The transaction indicator tells you which transactions are to be taken into consideration when limit utilizations are calculated and how.

      The following options exist:

      Only asset-side transactions
      Only liabilities-side transactions
      Accumulated asset-side and liabilities-side transactions
      Netted asset-side and liabilities-side transactions
    4. Under Business partner relationships you can define which relationship categories between business partners should be taken into consideration and up to what evaluation depth (level of the relationship web). If the limit utilizations are updated for one business partner, this means that the limit utilizations of all the business partners in the relationship are updated automatically.
The transactions of the partners in are included in full unless a percentage rate was defined for the business partner relationship in business partner maintenance. In this case, only the corresponding proportion of the transaction amounts is taken into account when the limit utilizations are calculated.
  2. Assign limit characteristics
    1. Select a limit type and choose Assign limit characteristics.
The Change View "Treasury: Characteristics of Limit Type": Overview screen appears. All the characteristics assigned to the limit type you have selected are listed.
    2. To add a new characteristic, choose New entries.
    3. Position the cursor on the first free entry and call up a list of the limit characteristics that can still be selected via the possible entries function (F4 Help). Select the required characteristic.

At present, the following characteristics are available:

      Company code
      Business partner number
      Limit product group
      Portfolio
      Trader
      Currency key
      Country/region key
      Industry key
      Rating indicator

Note: If you have already defined limits for a limit type, you can no longer change the limit type. In other words, you cannot assign any more new characteristics.
