In this Customizing activity, you define the types, layouts, status and the structure of the card ordering files for membership cards by selecting appropriate values for each characteristic.

Card Type: Decides what must be the attributes of a card belonging to a particular card type. This is the most significant field. For example, if the card must have a photo or not.

Card Type Description:

Active: Until the card type is activated, it does not come into use and does not appear in the card type dropdown on the IC WebClient UI card overview page.

Card Rank: Distinguishes the cards in a membership as main, temporary, additional and so on. This list is fixed and cannot be changed.

Validity Period: Indicates what the validity time period is, if a card is created using a particular card type.

Validity Period Unit: Time period unit expressed in days, weeks, months or years. This list is fixed and cannot be changed. The validity period and the validity period unit determine the Valid To date of a card. When validity period unit is years or months, the Valid To date is rounded off to end of month.

Renewal: Determines if a card can be renewed or not. If this attribute is checked, a report RLOY_CARD_EXP_REPLACE (Loyalty Management Card Renewal) can be run to replace and renew cards of those card types on a regular basis.

Renewal Period: Time period that decides the renewal date from when a card can be replaced. The first time the report is run on or after the renewal period, the card is replaced. The card expires the first time the report is run after the Valid To date.

Retain old card no: If this attribute is checked, the new replacement card retains the external number of the old card.

The report documentation of RLOY_CARD_EXP_REPLACE (Loyalty Management Card Renewal) illustrates the implications of the following attributes:
  • Validity Period

  • Validity Period Unit

  • Renewal

  • Renewal Period

  • Retain Old Card No

Card Layout: Determines the card layout. The card layout entered must be from among the layouts maintained in the card layout Customizing.

PIN: Determines if the card must have a PIN or not.

Photo: Determines if the card must have a photo or not.

Magnetic Stripe: Determines if the card must have a magnetic stripe or not.

Payment: If this attribute is checked the card is payment relevant and the user needs to pay for the card.

Tier Dependent: Determines if a card is tier dependent or basic. Basic cards function throughout the lifetime of the membership. Tier dependent card types can only be assigned directly to a tier, while basic card types can only be assigned directly to the program type.

Card Customer Attribute Default Values

The default values of card attributes added through extensibility are maintained in this node for each card type. This node is applicable for card attributes added through extensibility only.

  • Card Attribute: Technical name of the card attribute added through extensibility.
  • Value: Default value of the card attribute.

Card Ordering Header Labels

The list of attributes that must appear in the ordering data files along with the corresponding attribute texts/labels is defined in this node. As a result of this Customizing the ordering data is transferred to a file of defined structure which can be sent to the external card service provider.

The data files for ordering cards for printing are generated through the report RLOY_CARD_ORDERING_EXTERNAL.

  • Attribute Name: Technical name of an attribute.
  • Tab Name: Table or object to which the attribute name belongs.
  • Attribute Position: The position of the attribute in the ordering file in terms of columns or the order of the columns.
  • Is Active: Whether the attribute must be displayed in the ordering file or not.
  • Description: The column header of individual attributes that must be used in the ordering file.

The report documentation of RLOY_CARD_ORDERING_EXTERNAL illustrates the implications of this node.
