Airline Administration Data refers to the Flight Data that you maintain in the Member Activity Details page. You can use this Customizing activity to create new entries for an individual field. For example, if you add a new airline code #Air One Airlines (AO)#, it will appear as a drop down option in the field Airline Code under Flight Data when creating a member activity.

The following standard airline data are delivered:

  • Airline codes: identifies each airline in the system.
  • Airport codes: identifies the airports in the airline systems.
  • Booking classes: are standard across all airlines as defined by IATA. For example, Business class, or Economy class.
  • Fare basis: identifies the fare rules applied to the ticket, which in turn determine the amount of points to be awarded. For example, a business class ticket can be purchased using points or money, each of which is represented using a different fare basis. The ticket purchased with points will not accrue further points. Similarly, an economy class ticket can be purchased at a regular prices or a discounted price. The ticket purchased at the discounted price will not earn further points or may earn fewer points. Fare basis are standard across all airlines as defined by IATA.
  • Flight categories: classifies the segment as domestic, international, and so on. These can be used to define rules for specific types of flights such as Trans-Atlantic flights.
  • Flight segments: A flight segment is a flight which is operated by an airline. In addition to storing the origin and destination airport, it also stores the actual miles flown on the flight, which is the basis (base miles) for the points earned. When a member activity of type flight is created, the system automatically determines the base miles for the member activity.
