LRM_VC_PURPOSE - Define Purpose

Maintain the purpose definition.

You use this activity to define purpose. Indicates a purpose which can be used when defining retention rules in SAP ILM or when providing information on personal data.

The purpose represents a business process that groups ILM objects relevant for that process. These ILM objects have the same residence and retention rules.

This activity contains three subtasks:

• Define purpose

• Assign ILM objects to purpose

• Maintain condition fields

The changes in the above subtasks are logged under the Change Document Object ILM_DCRF_CONF and you can view the changes using transaction ILM_CHDOC_DCRF.

ILM object should exist.

Define Purpose

To define purpose, proceed as follows:

1. Choose New Entries.
2. Enter Purpose ID.
3. Enter Description.
4. Choose Save.

Assign ILM Objects to Purpose

To assign ILM objects to purpose, proceed as follows:

1. Select the Purpose ID.
2. Choose Assign ILM Objects to Purposefrom the Dialog Structure.
3. Choose New Entries.
4. Enter the ILM object. You can also select the ILM object.

Note: You can also assign multiple ILM objects.

1. Choose Save.

Maintain Condition Fields

To maintain condition fields, proceed as follows:

1. Select the ILM object.
2. Choose Maintain Condition Fieldsfrom the Dialog Structure.
3. Choose New Entries.
4. Enter Sequence.
5. Enter Condition Field.
6. Enter range value for the select condition field in the From and To field.

Note: You can also assign multiple condition fields.

1. Choose Save.
