Short Description of Function

You use this function to change the standard SAP settings for logging through change documents and table logs. These settings are connected with changes in the technical settings of data elements and tables in the Data Dictionary. For more details, refer to: Configuration of Logging and the "Application Help" on logging configuration.

Recommendations for Multi-Client Operations

Changes to data elements and tables in the Data Dictionary are cross-client. The setting re which data is logged by an application can only be made on a cross-client basis. Whether data is logged at all can be specified on a cross-client basis for the following cases:

The setting of the tables determines the table logging. Whether table logs are recorded in a client depends on the setting of the system profile parameter rec/client.

The setting of the data elements influences the creation of change documents. Whether change documents are created depends in general on the client-specific Customizing of the relevant application. Not every appication is hooked up to the change document creation facility.
