Short Description of Function

Uses of the Personalization Framework

Personalization is used to predefine and save characteristic values for each user that are required to execute an application. Users (or an administrator acting for one or more users centrally) can set the user-specific settings using a personalization dialog.

Features of the Personalization Framework

The personalization framework in which user-specific personalization data is entered comprises a hierarchically structured data store, the personalization hierarchy.

In addition, the personalization dialogs also play an important part. They define the relevant entry screen which is used to enter the personalization data.

In the SAP standard system, the applications delivered include the required personalization hierarchies and dialogs. However, you can create your own personalization hierarchies and dialogs, or else enhance the personalization hierachies delivered.

Recommendations for Multi-Client Operations

Only the actual personalization data (characteristic values) that is entered for each user is updated client-specific (database table FPB_PERSPARM).

All of the other parts of the personalization framework (such as the personalization hierarchies and dialogs) are cross-client.
