In this Customizing activity you can define rules using BRFplus for the following process step types:

  • Standardization (STD)
  • Validation (VAL)
  • Best record calculation (BRC)
  • Update (UPD)

Note that for Validation and Activation we strongly recommend that you use the rules from the data quality rule repository instead of defining rules here.

You have maintained the Customizing activity Specify Table and Field Properties.

  • The system will generate the required BRFPLUS functions.
  • The naming convention for the system generated functions is MDC__FOR_, for example: MDC_STD_FOR_BUT_ADRC_PRC.

To use BRFPLUS rules for a certain process step type proceed as described:

    • Standardization: Select the corresponding adapter in the Process Template Step view in the Customizing activity Specify Process Template.
    • Validation: Set the Execute BRFplus indicator for a specific adapter configuration in the Customizing activity Configure Validation.
    1. In the Business Rule Framework plus screen choose Search.
    2. In the Searchdialog box enter *MDC* as Application Name and select Functionas Object Typeand choose Search.
    3. Select your function in the Search Resultlist and proceed as described in the BRFPLUS documentation.

In the process step validation, step messages resulting from BRFplus rules can be displayed, if the system is set up as described below:
