If you have generated the data model specific structures using the data model activation of the Customizing activity Edit Data Model, then you do not need to use the Customizing activity Generate Data Model-Specific Structures for the generation of data model-specific structures.

In this Customizing activity, you generate the following technical structures in the ABAP Dictionary for each data model and entity type:

  • Structures for PDF-based forms
  • Structures for the Service Mapping Tool (SMT)
You use these structures for the configuration of enterprise services. For more information, see Create and Edit Mappings.
The system also uses these structures for the single object processing UI.
  • Structures for use in the Data Replication Framework(DRF)
You assign these structures under Data Replication-> Enhance Default Settings for Outbound Implementations -> Define Business Objects and Object Identifiers -> Assign Key Structures to Object Identifiers.
  • Structures for Field Control of Attributes
The system uses these structures internally for the field properties of attributes.
  • Structures for Field Properties of Attributes and Key Fields
These structures are a prerequisite for all entity types you want to use in Customizing activity Configure Properties of Change Request Step.
  • Structures for Key Fields
The system uses these structures internally for key fields of entity types.
  • Structures for Hierarchy Attributes
The system uses these structures for the UIBB Hierarchy Assignments in the single object processing UI.
If the entity type has no hierarchy attributes the system generates no structures.
  • Structures for Data Extraction
The system uses these structures for BW DataSources for attributes, texts, and hierarchies.

Package assignment

You can assign one package per data model. If you want to assign a structure within a data model to another package, use the package assignment in the structure view.

Note

If you change a data model (for example, if you change attributes of entity types or relationships), you need to regenerate the structures.

An active data model exists.

SAP delivers both data models and corresponding structures. The namespace of these structures is /MDG*/. These structures also contain a customizing include. If you change the data model at a later date, you might need to adjust the structures by means of these customizing includes.
