SAP E-Book

In this Customizing activity, you maintain the source file classes that you require to create the mapping between the source items of the PiP data files you receive from your external system (such as a PLM system) and the target objects that are required to create the shop floor routing in SAP S/4HANA Manufacturing for production engineering and operations PEO).

No predefined settings are available in the standard delivery with the exception of the Target Object Field table where SAP presets some target object fields along with the status mandatory. These fields are mandatory for creating the corresponding target object and therefore you cannot change this information.

To create the PiP data settings, you first have to create a source file class. For the source file class, you enter an ID and a description. You have to determine the type of the class such as a manufacturing process definition (MPD) or product manufacturing information (PMI), and the document type of the file that is saved in the document info record (DIR).

Note:
The source files that you receive from the external system are assigned to a source file class.

After you have created the source file class, maintain the following settings for each class:

Source Item

Select the source file class in the source file class table and double-click the Source Itemsection in the dialog structure.

In the source item table:

  • Enter all the source item types relevant for the source file class.
  • Enter a description for each source item type.
  • Define whether the source item type must, can, or cannot be handed over to the shop floor routing.
  • Enter the name of the source item type.

Refer to the F1 help available for the table columns for more information.

Source Item Property

Select a source item type in the source item table and double-click the Source Item Property section in the dialog structure.

In the source item property table:

  • Create all the necessary source item properties for the selected source item.
  • For each property specify whether it is an identifier, a name, or both an identifier and a name.
  • If the ID is made up of concatenated properties, define the ID position. Enter the ID position (1) even if only one identifier exists.
Note: Changing this information will cause inconsistencies in existing data.
  • If the name consists of concatenated properties, define the Name position.

Refer to the F1 help available for the table columns for more information.

Target Object Mapping

Note: In this table, the focus is switched from the source information to the required PEO target objects.

In this table, enter all the necessary target objects. These are the objects required to create a shop floor routing. Map each target object with a source item. You can map multiple source items to one target object type and you can map one source item type to multiple target objects.

In this table, you must also:

  • Select which source item is leading for a corresponding target object meaning which source item triggers the creation of the corresponding target objects as a structural node in the shop floor routing.
  • Specify the assignment type, direct assignment, choosing whether local changes are allowed.

Refer to the F1 help available for the table columns for more information.

Target Object Field

In this table, create a list of all the fields that are required for each target object. In addition:

  • Define whether the fields are mandatory meaning that they have to be filled before you can release the shop floor routing.
Note: Check that the fields that are mandatory for technical reasons are automatically listed here as well. (See standard setting section above.)
  • Enter a default value if necessary.
  • Define the source item to which the target object is to be mapped.
  • Use F4 to select the source item property which is to be used to fill the target object.

Refer to the F1 help available for the table columns for more information.

NOTE:

If you maintain the BAdIs available for direct assignment, the settings defined in the BAdIs always overwrite the settings maintained in the customizing tables described above.
