In this Customizing activity, you define the item types for auxiliary data. You can then use these item types to filter the list of auxiliary data in the auxiliary data workspace of the shop floor routing.

In this activity, you can also determine per item type whether it is generally allowed to make changes to the auxiliary data when using it to create an object such as an inspection characteristic in the auxiliary data workspace of the shop floor routing. If you enable the conversion from a direct to an indirect assignment, you can change the fields prefilled with the auxiliary data and the system creates an indirect assignment of the auxiliary data - even if you have implemented the BAdI for setting up direct assignment. In this case, the system issues a warning stating that the values in the mapped fields for direct assignment were changed and asking if you want to proceed with the creation of the routing object with indirect assignment.

If you do not make any changes to the auxiliary data, the system creates the routing object with a direct assignment of the auxiliary data.
