SAP E-Book

In this Customizing activity, you define the queries for the Reporting Launchpad application that are available to the line manager in the Reports page.

The standard reporting launchpad delivered with the Manager Self-Service (WDA) role is defined as follows:

Role: MSS

Instance: REP2

In the standard system, the reporting launchpad provides the line manager with the following predefined queries;

  1. Personal Data
  2. Organizational Data
  3. Duration of Organizational Assignments in Company
  4. Position Overview
  5. Absence Overview
  6. Overtime Overview
  7. Salary Overview
  8. Talent Management Information
  9. Employee Entries
  10. Employees Leaving the Company
  11. Training Activities
  12. Expiring Qualifications

The following dashboard reports are also available:

  1. Strengths and Risks in the Organization
  2. Skills and Competencies
  3. Learning Activities for the Organization
  4. Analysis of Performance and Potential

All necessary entries (folder structure, required details for the applications, in this case the BI Query application category, technical name, and system alias SAP_BW for BI queries 7.x) are already contained in the standard system.

In addition to this, the older launchpad role is also available and is defined as follows:

Role: MSS

Instance: REP

This launchpad provides the line manager with predefined BI queries for areas including Personnel Administration, Talent Development, and Internal Order reporting.

The following kinds of reports are also available in the standard reporting launchpad for managers:

  • Web Dynpro ABAP reporting applications for analyzing, for example, employee data, working time and training activities
  • Crystal reports for monitoring, for example, internal orders and cost centers
  • Xcelsius dashboards for analyzing, for example, employee skills and competencies and monitoring key figures
Note
Apart from the standard entries delivered with the reporting launchpad, you also have the possibility to create additional launchpad entries or a complete new reporting launchpad from Manager's Desktop entries with report RP_MSS_CONVERT_MDT_TO_LPD_CUST. You can find this report in Customizing activity Use Manager's Desktop Entries to Create Launchpad Entries.

If you want to add or remove reports from the reporting launchpad, you can do so as follows:

  1. Start transaction LPD_CUST in this Customizing activity.
  2. Create your own applications directly under the existing folders as required or subdivide the launchpad further by creating additional folders. In SAP NetWeaver Portal or in SAP NetWeaver Business Client (NWBC), the folders are used as headers for the links to the applications:
  • To create an additional folder, select the folder under which you want to create the new one. Choose New Folder. Enter a name for the new folder, and choose Enter. The folder is then inserted under the selected folder.

  • To create applications, select the folder under which you want to create them, and choose New Application. Select the Application Category. Depending on this selection, other input fields are displayed with which you can define or select the parameters of the application.

  • To add new queries to the Launchpad, simply create a new application. In the Advanced parameters section, go to Target App. Parameters and provide the name of the query with prefix ‘BSA_QUERY=’.

  • If you want to enter a description to be displayed in the launchpad under the link, choose @0Q@ with quick info text Editor for the Description.

If the field System Alias is displayed when you choose the application category, you have to enter a system alias.
Note
The folder Inactive Applications which is delivered in the standard, is used for collecting additional applications that are to be available to the manager, but are not to be displayed directly. These applications are displayed in a table that the manager can view when changing the launchpad. In the standard delivery, this folder is empty.

If you want to see the reports, from the older launchpad (MSS / REP), you can create a new application (as mentioned above) in the new launchpad (MSS / REP2) and copy the reports.

For more information about launchpads, see SAP Library for SAP NetWeaver at SAP NetWeaver by Key Capability -> Application Platform by Key Capability -> ABAP Technology -> UI Technology -> Web UI Technology -> Floorplan Manager for Web Dynpro ABAP -> Launchpad.
